Wood Vitality

We have reefed the old oakum and caulk, as per our previous post we are using CPES on the outside of the planks and Wood Vitality on the inside ribs and planks, epoxy resins strengthen the wood therefore to avoid causing any stress points that did not previously exist we are using another product from Smith and Co, an odor free zero v.o.c water based product that helps wood resist deterioration insect attack, black mold and mildew before we apply the damp proof and new inner skin.

Wood Vitality works with the wood to one revitalise and two to inject Zinc Borate into the wood to protect against future attack from any small life.

As always Smith and Co's Wood Vitality comes with very informative instructions.

Paint ideas

We have decided on the paint we intend to use, there is just the matter of colour/finish. 

A couple of ideas

Apparently this was once Uri Geller's boat. This is going to be the colours including the stripes at the water line.

The Outside

We are three quarters away from sanding back one side of the boat, all in all the outside planks are in good shape, we need to completly caulk this side of the boat, the old oakum falls out in some places.

We have built a couple of rafts from two old barrells ans two scaffold tower boards with the planks from downstairs.

With our weather being as it is we have tarpaulined the whole side of the boat.

The first plank is rotted in one place, luckily enough it is small enough to fill with the epoxy filler.
